When handling such a cumbersome instrument, it’s easy to imagine accidentally banging into a door frame or dinging the bell on a music stand, and as the saying goes “the bigger it is, the harder it falls.” That’s why when accidents happen, you MUST bring your tuba to Brass Monkey Music. With a wide array of tools and techniques, we remove those hard-to-reach dents. Using a specialized English wheel, the bell flare of a tuba can be carefully reshaped to reveal its original contour. Badly dented areas can be smoothed out to an unwrinkled surface once again. Further along the winding branches of your tuba, dents in difficult to reach areas can be accessed using extremely powerful rare earth magnets and ball bearings.

At Brass Monkey Music, we feature a 90-gallon ultrasonic tank. Even the largest of tubas will completely submerge below water, meaning your entire instrument gets fully cleaned. Smaller tanks cannot handle such large instruments, thus only cleaning a portion of the tuba. Once the instrument is out of the ultrasonic cleaner, brushes are spun in all slide tubes and valve casings to remove any remaining buildup that causes valves and slides to stick. After a final rinsing, the valves and slides are reassembled using only the highest quality lubricants.
